If You Can’t Beat Em, Join Em

It seems that Apple woke up and smelled the coffee. To date there is no “official” way of creating third party applications for the iPhone. Developers had to find a vulnerability in the iPhone in order to install their third party applications. As per this article on EnGadget Apple will be releasing an SDK edition for developers to write their own applications. There is also rumors out there that Apple will have to approve every application that is created. (Anyone smell power struggle/control ?) I can’t wait for a SIP soft phone for the iPhone so I do not have to pay the ridiculous rates of my current mobile carrier.

Power over Pots

EnGadget recently had an article on getting power from your POTS line. While this is real cool I have the same question as EnGadget, Who is still using POTS ? In my home I have a SNOM 360 and SPA-841 for my calls. I can make a total of 14 concurrent calls. I think the only need for a POTS line is to have DSL come in for your home as well as emergency power when the power lines go out. Click here to see the article on EnGadget.

4G. Are you ready for 3.6Gb a sec ?

A company in South Korea has announced that will be shortly releasing hardware that will allow users to down load at 3.6Gb a second moving at 3 Kilometers a second. The technology is being called NoLA shot for New Nomadic Local Area Wireless Access. Let’s hope they can have it where I can get these speeds at 60 MPH and sign me up. It is amazing how far we have come in just a few short years. Now if only my ISP in the US can offer more than 30mbps I may be happy (yes I am complaining about only 30mbps). For more information have a look at the article on EnGadget here.

New iPhone Hack Out there

Just as I thought a new release is out there. Engadget had a posting about it. This one allows you to get in to the phone thanks to a security flaw in Safari. It is for v.1.1.1. Hmm I wonder when apple will have a “fix” for it. For now it seems that all these hacks come from volnerabilities in the phones software. Maybe I was wrong with my last assumption, or was I ?
