O.J.’s Lawyer has an iPhone

I always wondered who had iPhone’s and it appears that hi priced criminal attorneys like gadgets to. During testimony today O.J.’s lawyer loaded a web page on his phone for a witness to give testimony on. A funny thing is that when it was on display some one called him blocked. I guess it doesn’t matter who you are, we all like toys.

Unlocked iPhone in France

I love the regulation in France. The law there states that if you sell a locked phone you must give your customers the ability to unlock the phone. I understand this that Apple will have to release updates for the phone for users that want to use the phone with another carrier in France. I can only wonder how Apple will limit the phone to be used only in France so that people can not simply buy it there and use it else where. I hope this opens up a new world for users around the world so that they will be able to use it with any carrier around the world and get all the updates for it. FYI the carrier selected to be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in France is Orange.

If You Can’t Beat Em, Join Em

It seems that Apple woke up and smelled the coffee. To date there is no “official” way of creating third party applications for the iPhone. Developers had to find a vulnerability in the iPhone in order to install their third party applications. As per this article on EnGadget Apple will be releasing an SDK edition for developers to write their own applications. There is also rumors out there that Apple will have to approve every application that is created. (Anyone smell power struggle/control ?) I can’t wait for a SIP soft phone for the iPhone so I do not have to pay the ridiculous rates of my current mobile carrier.

New iPhone Hack Out there

Just as I thought a new release is out there. Engadget had a posting about it. This one allows you to get in to the phone thanks to a security flaw in Safari. It is for v.1.1.1. Hmm I wonder when apple will have a “fix” for it. For now it seems that all these hacks come from volnerabilities in the phones software. Maybe I was wrong with my last assumption, or was I ?

An iPhone Unlock Solution

They say that for every smart person there is a smarter person. We all rejoiced way back in the day when the first hack came out for the iPhone. It took many hours by a 17 year old kid from Jersey but he got it done. What makes me wonder is that shortly after the hard hack came out (it required pulling apart the phone sniping wires etc.) there was a software hack out there. All those months no one had a software hack and then it came out. Is this any coincidence ? I am not one of those people that dream up theories (like my old boss that said that Symantec created virus’s to say in business) but its just odd. Besides for those agreements with ATT&T it would serve in apples best interest for an unlock to be out there. As soon as the software hack was out sales soared for Apple. Then Apple had to do the right thing and “fix” the hack. This makes me wonder when the apple execs need a new sales boost and mysteriously a new software hack is released. Anyone with me ?
